The Golden Bike Experience (GBX), the premier junior cycling club in Golden, Colorado, is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of two new directors for the 2021 season.  Russ Folger (Operations Director) and Chris McGee (Team Director) have assumed leadership duties for the club, replacing Sue Lloyd. “Sue has been with us since the beginning, and has served as an incredible director and coach for us,” said Ryan Stewart of the GBX Board.  “When she told us that she needed to step away from the role of team director, we were very apprehensive about how to proceed.  But she will continue as a coach, and the cycling community in Golden is so robust that we were able to engage Russ and Chris to fill her director shoes.”

With a combined six decades in cycling, including professional and amateur team management, non-profit governance, the cycling industry, and the development of youth programs, Russ and Chris are ideally suited to direct GBX in 2021 and beyond.  “These guys are fixtures in the Golden cycling community and are just tremendous people. Russ has been coaching with us since the beginning, and Chris has the experience to help our organization grow in the future,” said Ryan. “Russ and Chris are committed to furthering our mission and strengthening the Golden community.”

Founded in 2015 by four cycling-crazed fathers in Golden, Colorado, the mission of GBX is to build stronger kids and stronger community through cycling.  With more than 200 athletes aged 8-18 served annually by 30 trained and certified coaches, GBX provides a significant contribution to Golden and the Colorado cycling community. GBX is governed by a board of directors and is proud to build lasting partnerships with other community-minded organizations. Please direct any inquiries to Ryan Stewart or Chris McGee.
